Dave Sheppard
I have been married to Ann for
36 years (August 2011). We have three grown up children (we married
very young!) a son & two daughters. Both daughters have four
children each, blessing us with eight wonderful grandchildren. Our
daughters
are independently registered childminders.
I have been childminding with Ann since July 2007. Initially as Ann's assitant and then as a Registered Childminder in my own right. At my first Ofsted inspection I achieved the highest possible grading of Outstanding in all categories.
I am one of the first male childminders in the country to achieve EYPS Early Years Professional Status (September 2009). I have been a Registered NCMA Childminder since September 2008. I am an accredited Network childminder too.
Prior to deciding to become a childminder, and work from home with my wife, I was an IT consultant working on contracts in London. For seven years I enjoyed the crack of dawn commute to the city, the high powered and highly paid consultancy work, and the very frantic life of a consultant.
From leaving school in 1972 I joined the Royal Navy. I served for the first 14 years as a Weapons Engineer. Then, after being commissioned in 1986, I served for another 14 years as a Weapon Engineer Officer. Working mostly in the IT world and particularly with weapons and sensors data, I specialised as an IT consultant for the navy. I retired in 2000 at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
In my spare time I also have enjoyed writing teen action adventure books. I am currently working on my fourth in The MoonBridge Way series. The books are available at my other website in ebook format.
