Jadela Juniors is the trade name that we, Dave and Ann Sheppard, use for our childminding business.
We are both Accredited Network National Childminding Association (NCMA) Registered Childminders who have achieved independant Ofsted 'Outstanding' inspections. Our latest Ofsted reports are available here: Dave, Ann
We were married in 1975 and have lived at our home since May 1992. We have three grown up children who all now live in their own homes. Our two daughters are married and have four children each. At the time of writing (August 2011), our 8 grandchildren range from one to six years of age.
We are life-long non-smokers and never permitted smoking on our premises.
Fresh, healthy and nutitional meals form a major part of our provision. All food is prepared with the utmost care and always of top quality. We source many fresh fruit and vegetables from Fruits and Roots of Titchfield.
Our home is a five bedroom detached property at Peak Lane, Fareham, PO14 1RP. We have a large, enclosed, rear garden that is generously equipped with safe, secure and specifically selected toys, equipment and facilities to enhance the provision we provide to the childen in our care.
Indoors, our entire property is registered with Ofsted for the use of childminding. Upstairs there are three bedrooms used for the children to sleep if required. Downstairs we have four main areas that are utilised extensively by our childminded children - the den (3m x 3m) , the family room (5m x 4m) , the conservatory (5m x 4m) and the computer snug in the inner hallway. There are two bathrooms upstairs and a shower/cloak room downstairs. We have nappy changing facilities up and down stairs.
Our facilities and equipment are kept in good working order and have been purchased to enhance the provision we provide to meet and exceed the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
We maintain a very significant array of indoor toys and equipment that are regularly updated and augmented.
Amongst the outdoor equipment available are a very large climbing frame with two slides, three swings, two levels of decks, a scramble net and lower den. The entire area is surrounded by 10 cubic metres of play certified safety bark. We have a large play house, sand play area, water play facilities, extensive ride on and ride in toys, grassed and paved play areas.
Our address has a Fareham Borough Council certificate of lawfullness attached to it to permit us to conduct childminding at our premisses. We are lawfully permitted, and registered with ofsted, to have 12 childminded children at our home.
We have recently invested in an 8-seat Hyundai i800 fitted with 6 car seats to allow us to go out on excursions in the day time (whilst the schoolies are at school) using only one vehicle rather than the two we used to have to take.
We utilise a commercial soiled waste facility for the safe disposal of nappies.
We hold an Annual Public Liability Insurance (NCMA-Royal Sun Alliance) and maintan an Annual Certificate of Employers' Liability Insurance.
